Dolling Up

I have no memories of playing with dolls as a child so I'm getting another opportunity in my second childhood. As they say you have to crawl before you walk, I'm crawling into my identity as an artist. Growing up I never saw myself as an artist. I began after I retired from teaching through the mentorship of Barb Kobe at barbkobe.com

Statement

These figures emerge from the waters of my unconscious as I drain the swamp. They reveal themselves as I ask to see some aspect of my inner landscape. They always contain an element of mystery and surprise, and it can take extensive meditation to unpack the messages they bring. I find it lovely that the raw materials often appear in time for them to ask for what they want. I find them better at it than I am.
